First introduced in Europe the classic market umbrella has been around for a long time. Its frame has been made from whale bone and wood. Its canopy has been made from animal skin and silk.

Inherent to the design of the classical wooden market umbrella are certain structural weaknesses. For example, the finial, subject to the elements, cracks and deteriorates over time. The upper and lower hubs are prone to breakage due to expansion, contraction and umbrella arm movement. The twist tied copper wire used to connect the arm to the hub makes broken arm replacement problematic. Umbrella poles can break and warp.

Our past innovations include copper clad finials, laminated hubs and poles and an integrated hook pin/cord caddy making Giati Market Umbrellas the finest of their kind.

My newly designed Apogee Umbrellas™ resolve the weaknesses inherent to the market umbrella and herald a new generation of classic market umbrellas.

The upper and lower hubs are now cross laminated with an integrated retention ring. Our umbrella arm ends are reinforced with stainless steel and graced with a quick-lock attachment system making arm replacement a breeze should it ever be necessary. Our EcoTeak™ umbrella pole is now finger joined and tri-stagger laminated for added strength and stability.
